There are 20 scheduled games on the docket through Sunday, beginning tonight. I really only see about 4, maybe 5 HL wins. I truly hope I'm wrong!

Agreed. Things could still turn around, but from the early sampling of games, it appears the HL will once again be a 1-bid League. UIC should be 4-0, but choked away an 11-point lead against St. Joe's and just didn't show up against Fort Wayne. They don't know how to win yet. Brutal! Only a month left before the RPI's are pretty much set. About 9 games left for our teams to make a move. While Oakland and UIC may have the more athletic teams, NKU is the best coached team. My hope was that the top heavy nature of the league this year--I think OU and NKU are clearly head and shoulders above everyone else--would enable them to put up some gaudy W-L marks and maybe we could sneak a second team into the tournament. But every loss hurts. Oakland losing to Toledo could be a real problem. The Rockets are off to a good start, but they were predicted for the middle of the MAC pack. That could be a bad loss. OU needs to beat someone, and while Kansas and Michigan State would be enormous, they don't seem likely. Tonight may be their best chance, with Syracuse. They play a couple other decent mid-majors, but nobody that will give them a big boost at selection time. NKU has fewer options for a big win. Road games at Memphis this week and Texas A&M next month are their shots. It was important to beat a good mid-major like Vermont on a neutral floor. The game was in the Norse's grasp, and they let it get away.

We are a 1 bid league for the foreseeable future Just don't lose again until the Horizon tournament final, and we'll have two bids.

We are a 1 bid league for the foreseeable future I hate to agree with this, but starting out this season and with possibly RMU, Fort Wayne and/or other lower mid-majors being added to the HL, your comment seems like a real possibility.

Wow...an "Ofer" last night (not counting non-D1 wins)! I think a lot of us were hoping for better than this. Granted it's not the end of the world but losing games we feel our teams should win and not closing out teams when we have the lead does not bode well for the Horizon going forward. A one bid League this year seems like a lock!

We have had 2 different teams loose to D2 schools. I don't think many conferences can say that.

Conference play for the HL starts December 28. There are approximately 8 games left for our teams in non-con. That means the next 4 weekends are all this Conference has to move up in the RPI ranks. It doesn't look good.
This past off-season, I have ripped on the MVC, especially in light of them snatching Valpo from us, by saying that with the loss of Wichita State they will become a one-bid League like the HL. The more I watch their teams though, the more I'm inclined to change my position and say that they just might grab a couple spots in the Dance. Northern Iowa just got a nice win over a North Carolina State team. The Valley has only one team with an RPI over 200... and that's one of the teams favored to win it: Loyola! Hell, Bradley and Evansville are winning games! Right now the MVC sits at #6. I can't see them falling no further than 11. Anything can still happen, but the HL has 6 teams over 250 and 3 of those over 300! With 8 games left, our teams will pretty much have to run the table in order to get into the top 15, let alone the top 12! I know that won't happen, but I truly thought we were a better League this season. My fondness for this League blinded me.

I know it's too early for RPI to be in any way meaningful, but Youngstown being in dead last (351/351) really leaves an unsettling feeling.

I know it's early, but this will be a tough year for the Horizons RPI.
