YSU adds a game at Indiana on December 29. $95k payday. I get a couple of looks this year with games at Butler and IU.

It'll help their RPI, but will probably be a disaster if they don't get some good players for the ones that asked for releases/Transfers.

Story on YSU non-conference including paydays, etc www.tribtoday.com/sports/ysu-sports/2017/06/new%E2%80%88schedule-makes-dollars-sense/11/11 vs. Kent State (at Akron) 11/21 Westminster 11/24-26 at South Dakota tournament with Northern Colorado and Southern Mississippi 12/2 at DePaul 12/9 at Butler 12/18 at Idaho State 12/20 at Utah State 12/29 at Indiana Not sure where the contracts with Canisius, Niagara, Robert Morris, Toledo and American sit (last year's opponents). Would expect come combination of those. Story also mentions negotiations with Ohio State and West Virginia to try to get a 2 for 1 deal in future years with one of those school.

YSU's full non-conference schedule is out. www.ysusports.com/sports/mbkb/2017-18/schedule. If they beat Kent State in their opener (played at Akron) I think the Penguins should finish about .500, despite having just 3 home games (including a couple of non-DI gimmes) and 4 very tough "guarantee games" on the road.

I'm told Calhoun was on Youngstown radio today and mentioned that YSU was scheduled to play a home out of conference game with IUPUI. Once they came in to the league, the second non-DI game was added. Franciscan was formerly known as Steubenville College and has a long history with YSU from our NAIA and Division II days. From 1950 through 1980 the schools played 44 times.
Calhoun is seeking out the money games to make facility improvements and increase the recruiting budget - and his first year is the time to do in the honeymoon period. The bad news is only one Division I ooc team at home will make it hard to help build attendance momentum.

Kent will be tough but they do lose two of their top 3 scorers. After Kent the Penguins' have got Franciscan, at Canisius, Westminster, and then Northern Colorado in Sioux Falls. Canisius was 18-16 a year ago and it's on the road, but the Golden Grifs lose two starters, both of whom averaged in double figures last year and one of whom was their top rebounder. The Bear have 4 starters and almost all their rotation back, but they were just 11-18 last year. Anyway, it would be good to see Calhoun's club get off to a good start before a brutal stretch of road games in December.

I saw people were listing that NKU was playing Ole Miss on Nov. 13th. I went and looked at Ole Miss basketball schedule and its actually Eastern Kentucky that they are playing. I am intrigued about NKU playing Memphis this year. Its a program that is struggling now but has good name recognition and historic prestige. I think it is actually a winnable game though so that could look good from a marketing perspective for us if we can pull of the win there. It seems like they are keeping a lid on the schedule for this year. I have noticed it is a lot harder to get scoops on the schedule under Brannen. I used to always hear rumors during the Dave Bezold days that often turned out to be true. Hopefully we will hear some more news soon cause I want to know who I am seeing with my season tickets this year!

Green Bay is playing at Mizzou on Dec 9th. Green Bay is playing at Belmont on Dec 2nd. Green Bay is hosting Bowling Green State in late December. So far Green Bay is not on the Wisconsin or Marquette schedule. It would be nice if they were. That is easy money and both teams might be down a little so GB could show well.

Yeah, they're an SEC team and the game is on the road, but this looks like a winnable game. The Aggies finished 16-15 overall and 8-10 in conference. I get the SOS and how the HL finished in the RPI, I still think the Norse can pull off the upset on the road.

Detroit becomes the third HL school to release its full non-conference schedule today. They follow Oakland and youngstown State. The Titans have a couple of NAIA clubs to play at home, and 4 other home games, against East Tennessee State, Murray St., Toledo, and Western Michigan. All of those are winnable games, though the MAC teams-especially WMU-will be tough, and Murray and ETSU usually put a good product on the floor. They've also got Michigan in Detroit, at the new Little Caesars Arena. True road games are at UCLA, Virginia Tech, St. Louis, and Ft. Wayne, and possibly Belmont (they'll either play Belmont or Houston Baptist in Nashville). They've also got a neutral site game in Nashville against Seattle. UCLA and Virginia Tech you have to predict in the "loss" column, but St. Louis is a winnable road game against an A10 team. The Titans should win at least 5 games, possibly up to 8. Anything above that would be a real surprise. Western has always drawn well and it's good to see them back on the schedule. You can see all Horizon non-conference schedules, including individual games as they become known, here: udtitanbasketball.freeforums.net/post/7055
