Just trying to compile a list of each Horizon's Team's best roster since 2000. I kind of rushed this, so it's probably not right. Let me know.
Wright State 2017-2018 Northern Kentucky 2018-2019 Cleveland State 2008-2009 Youngstown State 2019-2020 Robert Morris 2009-2010 Detroit Mercy 2011-2012 Oakland 2010-2011 IUPUI 2002-2003 PFW 2015-2016 UIC 2003-2004 Green Bay 2015-2016 Milwaukee 2004-2005

For Green Bay I have to go with 2013-14 as their best roster. Alec Brown, Keifer Sykes, Al McKinnie, Greg Mays, Carrington Love, Jordan Fouse and Vince Garrett all went on to play professional basketball at some level. That was a really fun team to watch. They played good defense and above the rim on offense. It is sad to think about how two really poorly timed injuries derailed the kind of team that doesn't come around very often. They were 14-2 in league played and rolled a lot of teams. That was the team for GB that should have won NCAA tournament games. To lose Sykes and Brown in the conference tournament game against Milwaukee is one of the worst losses I have experienced as a fan in my life. greenbayphoenix.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/2013-14

It has to be the '03-'04 roster. Sadly it was the last one that went to the dance some 16 years ago. The roster was senior laden but had the great Cedrick Banks and his best friend and floor general Martell Bailey. A great group to watch. If this season's team (provided there is a season) makes the Dance, it surpasses the '03-'04 squad.

Kicking around the idea of simulating a virtual league consisting the best teams from the last 2 decades of each Horizon League school. Was thinking of using either SimMatchup or I would really like to do something along the lines of what they did for the virtual NCAA tournament, where they streamed it with 2k8 with adjusted rosters (but i have no idea how any of that works). Would be fun to do a double round robin with a tournament at the end. Maybe even throw in some ex Horizon League teams. Could get others involved, have one fan from each school adjust playing times and such.
Something to take away the lull of fall with all the sports being cancelled/pushed back.

So I went ahead and setup a SimMatchup league using the above teams with using Green Bay's 13-14 roster. I'm not sure how good whatif's sport's simulator is, it takes stats from each season and put's it into their game generator. It does play by play and can factor a home advantage. The plan is to play a double round-robin, one round of games per weekday for a total of 22 games for each team. The end of the season will have a single round elimination with the top 4 teams getting byes. The games will be simulated on a neutral court. The round robin games will have 1 home/1 away against each opponent. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1z1Q-SBPj9MIo4GYbd-S4AyDNF7qQ6ftfy9ulr-vXPGE/edit?usp=sharingI'll be trying to update daily based on the schedule on the above spreadsheet. If a life event prevents me from updating, everything will be pushed back a day. If this gets popular I may live stream the tournament on a weekend for integrity purposes. I have done the first round as a trial. Home Away Wright State 2017-2018 69 Milwaukee 2004-2005 86 Northern Kentucky 2018-2019 61 Green Bay 2013-2014 82 Cleveland State 2008-2009 60 UIC 2003-2004 80 Youngstown State 2019-2020 70 PFW 2015-2016 80 Robert Morris 2009-2010 74 IUPUI 2002-2003 80 Detroit Mercy 2011-2012 89 Oakland 2010-2011 98 All the away teams won and they were also the older teams. Not sure how that translate, for now i'll chalk it up as a coincidence. PFW beat YSU after trailing the 1st half. Ed McCant's had a day's high at 25 points. Loudoun Love led the day with 13 rebounds. One final note, shooting stats get translated into dates, i don't know how to stop that without having to manually change everyone which time does not allow for. If anyone wants access to change the doc/compile stats, let me know and I can give access. If there's any errors, let me know i think you can tweak lineups a bit. If I make any mistakes like putting in wrong teams, the game will be considered nul and replayed.

Not bad. Hope you can pull it off. Looking forward to UIC and Milwaukee meeting again in the HL Final like the old days!

I'm looking forward to GB losing in the semifinals because that is what GB does in real life. Seriously, they love doing this and it's so frustrating!

Thank you for your interest Round 2 has been simulated. I have fixed the scorelines so we no longer see dates. The Week 1 of all away teams winning seems to have been just a one week deal, this week it was split 3-3. Older teams also went 3-3. Green Bay 2013-2014 77 Wright State 2017-2018 47 Milwaukee 2004-2005 69 UIC 2003-2004 80 Northern Kentucky 2018-2019 90 PFW 2015-2016 80 Cleveland State 2008-2009 79 IUPUI 2002-2003 53 Youngstown State 2019-2020 66 Oakland 2010-2011 93 Robert Morris 2009-2010 68 Detroit Mercy 2011-2012 83 Keifer Sykes led in scoring with 25 points for the week leading his team to victory over Wright State. D'Aundray Brown had an immaculate 16 boards in a Cleveland State victory over IUPUI. Will be working on compiling a list of stat leaders throughout the day.

Round 3 has been simulated. Wright State loses the first buzzard beater game to UIC, Loudoun Love unable to make the last shot of the game. Cedrick Banks had 27 and willed his team to victory, no other player from UIC had double digit scoring for the game. Jalen Tate also had 27 in NKU's loss to Oakland. No one has broke 30 yet this season, I hope to see it. Drew Mcdonald (NKU) and Josh Murray (IUPUI)led the day in boards with 13 each in both of their teams respective losses.
Home Score Away Score Wright State 2017-2018 65 UIC 2003-2004 66 Green Bay 2013-2014 87 PFW 2015-2016 78 Milwaukee 2004-2005 83 IUPUI 2002-2003 69 Northern Kentucky 2018-2019 83 Oakland 2010-2011 90 Cleveland State 2008-2009 83 Detroit Mercy 2011-2012 78 Youngstown State 2019-2020 66 Robert Morris 2009-2010 76
There's a 3 team race for first, all undefeated, but that will end tomorrow as Green Bay hosts Oakland.

Round 4 was filled with some exciting games. Robert Morris wins on a last second shot over Northern Kentucky. It went Jones made a 3 to put Morris ahead 77-75. McDonald answered with a 3 with 19 left on the clock Jones drove, missed a layup and Thompson got a put back as time ran out. Karon Abraham is the first player to break the 30 mark, scoring 32 this game. Detroit makes a heck of a run just to fall short. Little less than 3 minutes left, Detroit down by 10. They go forward scoring 7 unanswered points fouls Hanson, who misses on the one and one, gets the rebound, but Donovan Foster misses a game tieing three point attempt with 2 seconds left on the clock. Green Bay solidifies itself as a top team with a 10 point win over Oakland. UIC and Green Bay won't play each other until Round 8, what's the chances they both win their next 3 games? Wright State and YSU continues to fight for the last spot They play each other in Round 9, I hope it's not for a first win. Round 4 Results PFW 2015-2016 81 Wright State 2017-2018 72 UIC 2003-2004 66 IUPUI 2002-2003 44 Green Bay 2013-2014 94 Oakland 2010-2011 84 Milwaukee 2004-2005 83 Detroit Mercy 2011-2012 79 Northern Kentucky 2018-2019 78 Robert Morris 2009-2010 79 Cleveland State 2008-2009 83 Youngstown State 2019-2020 55 Standings Green Bay 2013-2014 4 0 UIC 2003-2004 4 0 Oakland 2010-2011 3 1 Cleveland State 2008-2009 3 1 Milwaukee 2004-2005 3 1 PFW 2015-2016 2 2 Robert Morris 2009-2010 2 2 Detroit Mercy 2011-2012 1 3 IUPUI 2002-2003 1 3 Northern Kentucky 2018-2019 1 3 Wright State 2017-2018 0 4 Youngstown State 2019-2020 0 4 To see full results you can always follow the spreadsheet here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1z1Q-SBPj9MIo4GYbd-S4AyDNF7qQ6ftfy9ulr-vXPGE/edit?usp=sharingOverall Stats are updated throughout the day, so if something doesn't look right, its because i'm manually updating them. We're back after a weekend break, grab your coffee and come check out the excitement of Round 5! Wright State 2017-2018 82 IUPUI 2002-2003 64 Wright State picks up it's first win against IUPUI who have failed to find a victory since it's first match against RMU. Loudon Love recorded a game high with 15 rebounds*. PFW 2015-2016 107 Oakland 2010-2011 116 Our first Overtime game and it was a high scoring affair. Hudson (OAK) would go 1-2 at the free throws with 3 seconds left, Stewart (PFW) rebounds and throws up a hail marry to send the game into OT. Both teams had 6 players scoring double digits. PFW had 3 of it's 9 players out by the end with 5 fouls each. UIC 2003-2004 76 Detroit Mercy 2011-2012 83 Detroit hands UIC their first loss today. Ray & Chase both put up 20 points to keep Detroit out in front. UIC's turnovers and shooting woes from the field doomed them. Martell Bailey tried everything he could to save the game, including a league record of 10 assists, but it wasn't enough. Green Bay 2013-2014 63 Robert Morris 2009-2010 62 We came down to the final seconds from having 0 undefeated teams today. It took the hand of Mckinnie to save Green Bay's undefeated season as he blocked Velton Jones's last shot attempt to win the game. Brown had put them up by one with 11 seconds left and Mckinnie's swat at the last second sealed the deal. Good D in the last minute of the game secured this victory for Green Bay. Milwaukee 2004-2005 78 Youngstown State 2019-2020 65 Milwaukee wins this one pretty easily behind McCants 24 points. Darius Quisenberry had 22 but with his team shooting a miserable 34% from the field, he's going to be hard pressed to find a win this season. Northern Kentucky 2018-2019 73 Cleveland State 2008-2009 63 NKU puts down the defensive hammer holding Norris Cole to only 5 points this game and limited him to only 7 looks. Standings after 5 Rounds, i think we are getting a clear picture, with the top 4 teams as front runners. CSU, Detroit, PFW looks dangerous but inconsistent and i think the rest of the teams are still searching for a winning formula. Team Wins Losses Green Bay 2013-2014 5 0 UIC 2003-2004 4 1 Oakland 2010-2011 4 1 Milwaukee 2004-2005 4 1 Cleveland State 2008-2009 3 2 PFW 2015-2016 2 3 Robert Morris 2009-2010 2 3 Detroit Mercy 2011-2012 2 3 Northern Kentucky 2018-2019 2 3 IUPUI 2002-2003 1 4 Wright State 2017-2018 1 4 Youngstown State 2019-2020 0 5 Tomorrow's games will give all the top teams a chance to pull away further....or gives a chance for the bottom teams to catch up. It'll also put us past the 1/4 mark of the season.
*Edit, D'aundray Brown still holds record of most boards in a game at 16.

Round 6 games went mostly as I figured, with few surprises. Oakland 2010-2011 97 Wright State 2017-2018 81 Wright State back to their losing ways, failing to defend the perimeter Oakland went 13-21 deep. Reggie Hamilton finishes with 11 assists*, Benson had 22 points. IUPUI 2002-2003 78 Detroit Mercy 2011-2012 66 IUPUI defends their home court against Detroit. Detroit shot miserably, 20 percent from beyond the arc and 36 percent from the field. Bradley had 19 points for IUPUI. PFW 2015-2016 79 Robert Morris 2009-2010 62 Fort Wayne man handled Robert Morris and the more i watch this team stats, the more I think the top 4 teams don't want this team to match up with them in post season anytime soon. Max Landis (20 points) and Mo Evans (12 points) consistently puts up good numbers. UIC 2003-2004 83 Youngstown State 2019-2020 76 UIC coming off of their first loss of the season, what better opponent to have than YSU? They took the win, but you'd hoped to seen a blowout. UIC had 5 players score double digits which is good, but it feels this team is changing its identity from Cedrick Banks leading the team to a more evenly distributed squad. Hope it works out for them. Martell Bailey finished with 11 assists as well to tie with Hamilton in breaking the assist record on the same day. Green Bay 2013-2014 68 Cleveland State 2008-2009 63 I thought this game might be close, and it was as Green Bay squeaks out the win at home. A different kind of pace coming out of Green Bay, as the last 2 games they have been held under 70. It's a good sign they can win the slow ones too. Sykes only collect 12 points this game, these slower games might hurt his MVP shot for the league. Milwaukee 2004-2005 74 Northern Kentucky 2018-2019 78 Only big upset for me for the week as NKU goes into Milwaukee and comes out with a win. Drew Mcdonald had a double double with 11 Rebounds and 25 points. I thought Milwaukee might be a contender for the championship but after first quarter of games they feel like they could go either way 2 games out of first and only 1 game up over a trio of teams who would love to get that playoff bye. Green Bay 2013-2014 6 0 UIC 2003-2004 5 1 Oakland 2010-2011 5 1 Milwaukee 2004-2005 4 2 Cleveland State 2008-2009 3 3 PFW 2015-2016 3 3 Northern Kentucky 2018-2019 3 3 Robert Morris 2009-2010 2 4 Detroit Mercy 2011-2012 2 4 IUPUI 2002-2003 2 4 Wright State 2017-2018 1 5 Youngstown State 2019-2020 0 6
*Conference record for the season.

Hope you guys are enjoying this. Tomorrow games are all well matched teams, should have some good games. For stats: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1z1Q-SBPj9MIo4GYbd-S4AyDNF7qQ6ftfy9ulr-vXPGE/edit?usp=sharingPrevious round games are hidden, i think you can un-hide them to view by going to the view tab. If not, i might have to un-hide them for you. Feel free to dump your thoughts here, if you love it, hate it, think it's hogwash, i'm just trying to add something entertaining until they figure out what's going on with next season.

It took us 7 rounds to finally have 0 undefeated teams and 0 teams with out wins. Funny it happens all in the same day.
Wright State 2017-2018 70 Detroit Mercy 2011-2012 72
Detroit squeaks out of Dayton Ohio with a victory. Ray had a double double with 10 boards and 17 points.
Oakland 2010-2011 87 Robert Morris 2009-2010 77
Oakland shoots well at home (51 pct) from the field. Ledrick Eackles provides some solid bench scoring with 13 points in the game. Karon Abraham had 28 points for the night, but couldn't get enough help from the rest of team to make this a close one.
IUPUI 2002-2003 66 Youngstown State 2019-2020 71
YSU gets their first win and on a road game. IUPUI has been the victim twice now of letting both of the bottom teams gain victories. Free throw woes doomed IUPUI down the stretch.
PFW 2015-2016 61 Cleveland State 2008-2009 71
Cleveland State wins on the road in dominating fashion in what I thought would have been a closer game between two mid pack teams. Bullock had a season high of 22 points in the game, PFW had 3 point woes only shooting 5-21.
UIC 2003-2004 75 Northern Kentucky 2018-2019 74
UIC won a close game as the final minute and a half of this game was a true clown fiesta. Bailey would be the last person to score with 1:31 putting his team up by one. Tate misses an open shot at 1:24, UIC would rebound and have misses from Dominguez and Bailey. NKU would rebound take it across court and miss three chances, Tate misses a contested shot, Sharpe would miss a rebounded kick out 3 attempt, and Walton missed the tip in at the buzzard. UIC continues to win games in unconvincing fashion leaving UIC fans aging faster than they should.
Green Bay 2013-2014 74 Milwaukee 2004-2005 76
Milwaukee picked up a much needed win on the road to keep the race for first highly contested. McCants would put his team up by 2 with a 3 point swoosh with 10 seconds remaining. McCoy would steal the ball and run out the clock to end the game leaving Milwaukee fans McLov'n it.
Green Bay 2013-2014 6 1 UIC 2003-2004 6 1 Oakland 2010-2011 6 1 Milwaukee 2004-2005 5 2 Cleveland State 2008-2009 4 3 PFW 2015-2016 3 4 Northern Kentucky 2018-2019 3 4 Detroit Mercy 2011-2012 3 4 Robert Morris 2009-2010 2 5 IUPUI 2002-2003 2 5 Wright State 2017-2018 1 6 Youngstown State 2019-2020 1 6
It just seems like after 7 there is 3 tiers of teams of 4 teams in each tier, which will make playoffs interesting.
