With the anticipation of the HL expansion announcement, I was doodling through the Lipscomb record books concerning the 3 main sports the Horizon League sponsors: Basketball, Baseball and Soccer. Surprisingly the Lipscomb Bisons has done as good (or bad, depending on how you view it) as Loyola, UIC and Youngstown State in hoops over that same period. Since the 2004-05 season, the Lipscomb Bisons have compiled a 161-143 overall record (16-14) and 109-79 in the A-Sun (11-8).
They had a better soccer record, 8-8-2 overall, 4-4-1 in the A-Sun which was better than half the HL teams. As a matter of fact they would have placed 4th in the HL last season in soccer. Since the '04-'05 season, Lipscomb has a 61-112-18 overall record (6-11-2) and 30-45-9 in the A-Sun (3-5-1).
The Bisons Baseball Team is having a pretty good 2014 season, currently at 21-12. Since the '04-'05 season, excluding the 2014 season, the Bisons are 223-289 overall (25-32) and 113-147 in the A-Sun (13-16).
I know we've made mention of Lipscomb not being able to help the HL right away in basketball, which is the "big ticket" sport of the HL, but the other two bring some notoriety as well, at least within the college ranks. Lipscomb baseball and soccer teams could add a bit of competition to the Horizon and would be good for conference play and baseball could help the overall rpi because they would have the slight advantage of playing early and in good weather. They have also participated in the NCAA regional.
If you want to look at the individual season records for each of those sports (which I had no inclination to list), you can go the lipscomb site: www.lipscombsports.com. Just go to that individual sport and go to "record book".
