On paper, with the subtraction of Loyola and the addition of Oakland, is the Horizon League a top ten conference? We finished the '12-'13 season as the 12th rated conference, 3 spots behind the 9th rated Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), which seems to be the mid-major league other mids try to fashion themselves after. It appears that every HL team got better talent in recruiting, transfers and redshirts than in recent memory. Even Milwaukee seems to have put together some experience and talent to have a respectable season.
We were only behind the Big 6 (at the time, but Big 5 now), Mountain West, MVC, West Coast Conference, the A-10 and Conference USA. Of those, I see a not-so-good ranking for the MVC and Conference USA. Coming out of the gates fast is vitally important. A strong way to garner multiple bids to the Dance is to finish as a Top Ten college basketball league!
What say ye?

No. In no particular order, Big Ten, Big East, SEC, Big 12, American Athletic, ACC, Atlantic 10, MVC, MWC, PAC-12. I don't see any way we finish above any of those conferences. The WCC usually finishes ahead of the Horizon and probably will again, but maybe not. If you take last year's teams and remix them into the current conference alignments, the MVC is still well ahead of the Horizon. We should pass Conference USA without much trouble. Look for the Horizon to finish its usual 11th to 13th. Here's a list of where the conferences would have ranked last year if they had their current line-ups: udtitanbasketball.freeforums.net/thread/195/conference-rpi-remix

Interesting Post, the AA being right behind the other half of the original Big East is actually kind of entertaining. The better basketball half isn't all that much better. Though I have a feeling when Louisville joins the ACC, it'll separate more.

Commish, that wasn't bad at all. With all the moving, switching, adding and deleting, I kind of forgot that some of the other leagues will probably have a chance to be better with their new partners as well. It appears that the OVC moved up (theoretically) in your "current lineup adjustments". Say that holds true. If that's the case, Belmont and Murray State would probably be more inclined to stay in the OVC, feeling that their league can probably overtake the Horizon with a couple more good seasons.
