Just a little talk coinciding with the start of the hoops season. What if the Horizon League or even YSU itself came to its senses and YSU is gone. What program would be your choice to replace them? Just one team, not 1 plus two more to go to 12. We're a 10 team league, so what replacement would you have for Youngstown State? Keep in mind geography, travel costs, travel partners, Academics/Research compatibility, etc.

Love the idea of replacing YSU. Love it so much I don't care who we replace them with.
Maybe Wayne St? Heard they beat Mercy and the HL LOVES Detroit.
Obviously Belmont is the best choice but let's be realistic and take the question serious.
Next, I would love to have Evansville. Don't know if thats realistic either. IPFW basketball is becoming more competitive, but I'm not a fan. Would they be a better fit than YSU?

Obviously there won't be any Belmont or Evansville so my choices are limited. Fort Wayne is on an upward trajectory hoops wise, but the academics are still an issue for me. At this point my choice would be University of Indianapolis (UIndy), which would be a D2 call up. Like Oakland, UIndy has a 4,000-seat gym. It has good academics and is located in the HL headquarters city. Since a D2 call up won't be happening, the HL should just stand pat at nine until a compatible institution can be invited. FYI, Bellarmine (Louisville)has a hoops gym of 2,196; Wayne State's (Detroit) gym seats 1331(or thereabouts). They both would be out.
