Instead of putting up a poll of variations of all the matchups, I decided to just as you guys what you think is the best matchup in the HL? UIC and Milwaukee used to have some knock-down, drag-out battles when they were both good at the same time. Butler and just about anybody else; Milwaukee and Green, and this past season Detroit and Oakland seemed to be the top rivalry, even getting their own commercials on ESPN.
What say ye?

Obviously, it's in it's early stages but I think eventually it will be Oakland/Detroit. Not sure how big Milwaukee/Green Bay is, but I hope it gets to be big. It always seemed like UIC and Loyola should have been bigger than it was, but I think I read they are playing each other this year so maybe there was more to it than I was able to see from here in Detroit.

UIC vs Loyola used to be a pretty good rivalry when we were both halfway decent. The schools are only 12 miles apart. We used to recruit some of the same players, dated girls from the other's school, played each other in the summer, etc. The rivalry really hit an apex when UIC had Martell Bailey and Loyola had his older brother David Bailey. During that time we played in the HL Tourney Final, which was the impetus for changing the HL tourney format (because the game was in Cleveland where nobody showed up).
Right now, I'd have to go with Oakland vs Detroit.

At this point, I'm inclined to go with Detroit/Oakland as well. I don't see any other rivalry in the league with as much intensity already built in. It could happen with Milwaukee and Green Bay, but right now, it's the Titans and Golden Grizzlies.

Well, if you want objective criteria, Oakland @ Detroit was the highest drawing regular season conference game in the Horizon last year.
Detroit/Valpo has become a pretty good rivalry though neither school cares to admit it, and I'm not sure it yet has serious roots. CSU/YSU could be a good rivalry if YSU could ever develop a winning program.
I'd probably say the top two are Oakland/Detroit and Milwaukee/Green Bay.
