According to the Detroit News' Tony Paul, the Horizon League has extended an invitation to as yet unnamed institution, although some have speculated the two finalists to be Fort Wayne and GCU. Horizon extends offer to unidentified school |

An hour later, he tweeted that a source indicated SIU-E will not be invited at this time. In another tweet, Paul suggested the selection could be announced as early as this Friday. |

It's Murray State in 2017-18, and two teams added in 2018-19 likely IPFW and IUPUI. This is from a source at one of the institutions.

IUPUI is easily the worst possible addition the league could make. They suck at basketball and don't have baseball. If this happens I am going to be disturbed for awhile. If I had an AD in GB to complain to I would.

IUPUI is easily the worst possible addition the league could make. They suck at basketball and don't have baseball. If this happens I am going to be disturbed for awhile. If I had an AD in GB to complain to I would. Hell, I'll be disturbed for the entire season!!!! IUPUI has absolutely NOTHING to offer...NOTHING! Fort Wayne is the better basketball school! If this is true, how do you go from two good picks (Oakland & NKU) to IUPUI?! |

Well, since we are adding Ooey Pooey I guess I should be optimistic. Let's see- we have 10 teams, the jags are close, the HL maintains an IN presence. This continues the tradition of adding BIG10 branch campuses which have good academic reputations. Indy is an urban city and easily accessible. The actual sports part is of course lacking. The name makes me cringe sometimes. I can't remember how many times I saw the name and thought glad we're not in a league with them anymore. I guess I was mostly optimistic. Haha I tried. |

Plus sides: IUPUI has as much potential as Milwaukee. And this leaves open GCU/NM St. for next year.

Yesterday I couldn't have imagined a scenario would unfold that would leave the vast majority of HL fans wishing it would have been Fort Wayne.
Just an amazingly bad add for a league that wants to be a leader in men's hoops.
