Waiting on transfer portals to settle, seeing what's happening with CSU's coaching situation, and watching YSU dance through the weird CIT tournament, I'm working on a side project this summer.
The goal is to put dream teams together from each Horizon League team using players that have played for that team over the last 10 years and then run them through a simulator. Every year i see the same discussions "Imagine if we still had player x still on our team." Here's the chance to see! I'm taking players back from 2012-2013 (it's as far back currently as i can go) to present. I will be putting 10 players on each team. Remember G/F ratio, so you want at least 5/5 or 6/4, maybe 7/3. Also the season they had the best stat line is important as well, IE sometimes Junior year is better than their Senior year.
If you have players you'd like to see, post them below! I'll start throwing up teams after the NCAA tournament is over and you can help me tweak them this summer.
*Edit, i will accept non-Horizon League players from teams who played in previous leagues.

Does the season have to be with the HL team? Or can you take their best season after they transferred out, or before they transferred in?
For Detroit, I'd be thinking something like this:
G: Antoine Davis (You could take 2019, 2021, 0r 2022 without much difference.) G: Ray McCallum (2013) F: Nick Minnerath (2013) F: Juwan Howard, Jr. (2014 and 2015 pretty interchangeable--2014 might be a tiny bit better) F: Paris Bass (2016)
Bench: If you can use non-Titan seasons, use as guards G: Jason Calliste (2014 season w/ Oregon) G: Corey Allen (2021 w/ Georgia State)
If not, use: G: Jason Calliste (2013) G: Anton Wilson (2016) F: Jaleel Hogan (2017) F: Kameron Chatman (2018) G/F: Chris Jenkins (2016)
Other possibilities F: Bul Kuol (2021) F: Evan Bruinsma (2014) G: Josh McFolly (2017 or 2019) G: Corey Allen (2017)

My Rough Draft for Detroit was the following, which is mostly the same as yours:
DAVIS,ANTOINE Detroit 2021-2022 Delete MCCALLUM,RAY Detroit 2012-2013 Delete MINNERATH,NICK Detroit 2012-2013 Delete BASS,PARIS Detroit 2015-2016 Delete AKEC,MADUT Detroit 2021-2022 Delete KUOL,BUL Detroit 2020-2021 Delete CHATMAN,KAMERON Detroit 2017-2018 Delete HOGAN,JALEEL Detroit 2016-2017 Delete HOWARD JR.,JUWAN Detroit 2014-2015 Delete CALLISTE,JASON Detroit 2012-2013 Delete
Missed Antone Wilson Chris Jenkins
I probably had Madut in due to recency bias. Will probably swap him out for Chris Jenkins. I've got 11 of the 12 Horizon League teams rough drafts done. I will probably do one for old teams like Valpo & Loyola, though I'm afraid with Loyola's success lately they might dominate so i'm on the rocks.
It'll be interesting I think a lot of teams that have not had a lot of success in the Horizon League in the last 10 years may do better in this, especially Michigan teams. I need something to distract me from the sadness of Grant Basile going to the transfer portal as well.

I'll throw Oakland's out there to see if OUGrizz has any suggestions:

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vk89L_aiy0IoJLoXt_g5KLM35tqVqbmvkDUdWw2mGXo/edit?usp=sharingFor the current entire rough draft list for any other fans of schools who might want to chime in. It's been fun so far seeing where players lie, a lot of mid teams will probably do well in this, getting talent isn't a problem, just getting the talent all in the same years is where the issues lie. *Edit - you'll want to click the Roster's tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

But Mondy's better season at OU was 2012, not 2013, and that's outside your range, so maybe not. Mondy had a lot more assists and steals, and shows up a lot better in the "advanced" stats like win shares and player efficiency ranking. Don't know what-all your program includes. Wonder what a knowledgable OU fan would think. Addendum--I'd take Martez Walker 2018 over Williams or Mondy. Just thought of him.

For Green Bay, I'd take Jordan Fouse (2016) over Alfonzo McKinnie. Fouse was a stat stuffer: 12.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 2.1 steals, 3.3 assists. Also a 4x All-Defensive selection, thought I don't know if how much your program accounts for defense.

UIC: I'd probably go with Gary Talton (2013) over Zion Griffin. All of these 9th/10th selections are judgement calls--few clearly right or wrong answers.

For Milwaukee: Jordan Johnson (2016) over Kelm, perhaps Arians. Johnson was 1st or 2d in the nation in assists.

What about Jalon Pipkins for Ft. Wayne? Except for Konchar, I don't know a lot of their pre-HL players, so it's tough to say, but Pipkins was especially good in 2021 season.

For Wright State, I'd take Cole Darling (2013) or AJ Pacher (2014) over Jerran Young.

Appreciate all the feed back Commish, and I think most are valid, it's kind of fun to do and most teams around 9-12th best seem close to interchangeable.
Looking at how the sims run, NCAA game sim seems like it does a decent job by adding in SOS aspect for the stats which the simulator for whatifsports lacked, when i did my previous project of best team. The negative to it, doesn't account for fouls, so you don't get the random games where star players may foul out. The simulator seems like it has difficulties with having a lot of star players, the games ive tried with the current roster makes it like a NBA style tempo. Your average possessions in a basketball game is probably 60-80. Most games have had 100+ average possessions, which makes for exciting basketball, but maybe not so much on the realistic side. Though if you got your star players together for a run like this, im going to guess defense isn't as much on their mind, so maybe not too far fetch.
My goal is to run this from May - Sept do a series of games each week and maybe throw up random facts for each of the players for all teams to kind of give the off season some fun. I need something to brighten up my off season, losing Basile and Holden now is sad times.

Milwaukee has a discussion about this on their boards, and they're pretty big on their 2015/16 club. They agree with you on Jordan Johnson being in the lineup, but they also seem to like Kyle Kelm. Of the 3 people that spoke up, interestingly enough they could all only agree on 2 players to be on the roster, Jordan Johnson and Matt Tiby. Milwaukee's talent pool in the last 10 years has been pretty consistent I think. The team currently sits like this if i go with their fans:
LUCAS,TE'JON G Milwaukee 2020-2021 STULL,BROCK G Milwaukee 2017-2018 BELL,JEREMIAH G Milwaukee 2017-2018 TIBY,MATT F Milwaukee 2015-2016 MCWHORTER,STEVE G Milwaukee 2014-2015 AARON,JORDAN G Milwaukee 2013-2014 JOHNSON, JORDAN G Milwaukee 2015-2016 NZE, BRYCE F Milwaukee 2017-2018 SPRINGS, AKEEM G Milwaukee 2015-2016 PANOSKE, JJ F Milwaukee 2015-2016

In the hopes of looking less like an infirmary ward and more like a regular mediocre program, here's the team right now for IUPUI:
Jlynn Counter - G - Sophomore
Vincent Brady II - G - Freshman
John Egbuta - F - Junior
Bryce Monroe - G - Junior
Amhad Jarrard - G - Freshman
Cooper Dewitt - G/F - Junior
Daylan Hamilton - G - Junior
Armon Jarrard - G - Freshman
DJ Jackson - G- Freshman
DBraden Allen - G- Freshman
Zach Gunn - F - Grad Student
Derek Petersen - G -Redshirt
Kaleb Edwards - G - Redshirt
Chris Osten - F - Grad Student
Jonah Carrasco - F - Grad Student
Boston Stanton III - G - Sophomore
Caleb Crane - G - Redshirt
Bobby Wonnell - G - Freshman
I think the roster is going to be this when they start out:
John Egbuta (F)
Cooper Dewitt (G/F)
Daylan Hamilton (G)
Boston Stanton III (G)
Chris Osten (F)
Do I expect big things out of the Jags? Definitely not, but after last season, anything's better.

If Crenshaw can find stability in his roster, he showed some really good defensive sets and looks last season when he could. That being said, i'd keep the bar pretty low and continue to look for improvements. Sadly my summer project had to be nixxed. I got promoted at the office and the new position is tearing into my schedule, that and being sided 2 weeks in June with covid, it's safe to say my free time this summer has been limited.
