For decades the University of Detroit Mercy has been supported by an affiliated “Titan Athletic Club.” Membership is made up of supporters (primarily but not exclusively alumni) with different contribution levels and perks. One of the perks of membership is use of the private Titan Club Room, a space in the arena where you can gather with other members and their guests before a game, at halftime, or afterwards to have some refreshments and a beverage (including alcohol which is not available elsewhere in Calihan Hall). There is an elected Titan Club Board which helps plan events and promote fundraising efforts. A web page with more details about the TAC is at this link: detroittitans.com/sports/2008/11/12/GEN_1112080346.aspxI assume many other Horizon League schools must have something similar. I would be interested in hearing about what other school’s “club” or fan booster group looks like, e.g., is there a dedicated gathering spot, giving levels, perks, membership numbers, etc.
