I think we need to consider the state of expansion and where it's headed. With the P5 revamping and raiding, it's putting the G5 and other mid-majors in a tough position: get with the program or get left behind. The big boys are loading up on teams with 14 and 15 per conference. I like the idea of 12 programs (for a double round robin in basketball), but for added protection and self preservation, I don't mind going to 14. Murray would be nice for hoops, as they would undoubtedly give us a power boost. They are, however, 9+ hours from RMU and are probably headed to the MVC anyway. Morehead State actually won the OVC AQ last season, also have baseball and is closer to RMU by about 4 hours. Bellarmine is doing fairly well in their NCAA DI foray and have baseball. They are 7+ hours from RMU. The League would have 14 men's and women's Hoops teams and 9 baseball teams. So, my choices would be Morehead State and Bellarmine.

I wish booting YSU and IUPUI was a realistic possibility as that would be my preference. IUPUI and YSU to the OVC, Bellermine and Murray State to the Horizon.
If the MVC stupidly takes UT-Arlington as #12 then the HL adding Murray should be a no-brainer. At that point add Bellermine as well to get to 14 and get creative with scheduling so the top of the league doesn't have to play the NET-ranking anchors at the bottom of the league twice in a season. Maybe something like the projected top 7 play each other twice (12 games) and only have to play 8 games against the bottom 7 for a 20 game conference schedule.
If the MVC adds Murray St, I don't really see a need for the HL to expand.
