Good for both the OVC and UALR. I thought the OVC was going to be no more. I think WIU would be a great fit there. GVSU could work once they reclassify to D1, if and when.

OVC adding another school, less likely of a conference collapse.

That is a pretty good call up for the OVC. They have the resources to be additive to that league.
This with USI are good long term stabilizers for the OVC.

This is a good addition. I'm happy for the OVC. I don't think leagues can transition more than two DII callups at one time so I'm guessing unless WIU is coming to the OVC (and if that were going to happen it probably would have by now as much sense as it would make for both sides) the OVC will probably sit at their current lineup for now. If and when they make another move (not sure if that's even on the horizon for them) I'm guessing UIndy will be the next callup and that would also make a lot of sense for both sides.

Looks like our best bet is to go after Bellarmine, Grand Valley State University, and University of Indianapolis.

...or, Western Illinois, Bucknell, St Francis (PA), Lipscomb, and Eastern Kentucky

The new commissioner of the league recently said “I think part of it is what unifies us,” she said. “What we know unifies us here in the Horizon League is we’re in this 7-state, big city metropolitan footprint, and yes we’ve got a mix of predominantly large urban institutions but some privates too, with the common denominator of this collective commitment to basketball.”
This quote screams Bellarmine. Lipscomb and to a lesser extent GVSU (due to football) would also fit. I can't see the smaller town schools that were mentioned being a good fit based on what she said.

It's going to be Bellarmine, it's just a matter of when whether for this coming season or next.

My guess is it'll be next yar. I think Bellarmine is still ineligible for the tournament anyway and with Liberty and Jacksonville State still in the Atlantic Sun through July 1 2023 (I believe) there is no incentive to rush the move plus it will give the A-Sun more time to work on its replacement strategy. This would be the first I've heard of Lipscomb joining but that would be interesting and would certainly fit with their overall philosophy considering they are a private school with no football stuck in an increasingly football-centric conference. They might appreciate the Olympics sport centric nature of the Horizon League even if the travel benefit vs the A-Sun is less for Lipscomb than it would be for Bellarmine. We also need to consider that the Atlantic Sun seems pretty likely to add at least one if not more than one Tennessee school which would give Lipscomb more in-state conference games. My guess is that it's going to be just Bellarmine and it will be for July 1, 2023.

Lipscomb is a name that message board fans have tossed around for years. Especially after the failed attempt to lure Belmont to the HL.
I mentioned them in my last post as they fit the bill from the commissioner and another poster above mentioned them.
However, I've never once heard anyone affiliated with the league or a league member mention them as a possible candidate. Bellarmine, yes that name gets tossed around by people in the know but never Lipscomb.
While a road trip to Nashville would be fun, it only seems likely if a HL member schedules a H/H non conference game with them.

West Georgia to ASUN. Probably a replacement for Bellarmine to move to the Horizon next summer.
